After many years of use by my grandmother, mother and finally myself, my old spatzle press finally broke. I searched for a new one and bought another brand. If the product claims to be a ricer/spatzle press, do not be fooled! You will end up frustrated with globs of dough balls instead of beautiful noodles! The Kull press has just the right hole size and spacing to make perfect spatzle! Ricers do not make spatzle! Also, this product is built well and I anticipate many years of use, just like my old one. If you want real German spatzle, use a German press. A bit expensive, but worth it. As far as being not dishwasher safe, you don't need it anyway, it cleans up very easily. I really like my Kull Spaetzle Press. It makes the job simple. My friend next door showed me how to make spaetzle using a flat cheese grater with a hopper on top that slides across. I thought about using my ricer but after some research on line I discovered you just end up with a big mess. So I asked some German people what they used. They gave me the thumbs up for the Kull Spaetzle Press. I tried to buy one in Singapore with no luck at all. So I ordered on line. The best thing I ever did. I lent it to my friend next door who has been teaching cooking for the last 20 years and now she is going to buy one. If you want to make spaetzle like a German mama buy a Kull Spaetzle Press.
