Product Description

The Regina Atlas is a manual machine for making pasta by extrusion. Comes complete with five interchangeable dies for producing Rigatoni, Maccheroni, Maccheroncini, Bucatini and Fusilli. The machine is made entirely of plastic for foodstuffs. The control handle and the locking clamp are made of chrome-plated steel and shockproof plastic. The five dies are made of plastic for foodstuffs and chrome-plated steel. The size of the Extruder measures 10 x 5 x 7.5-in.

41 of 44 people found the following review helpful This is the real sleeper here of all the pasta gadgets!, October 20, 2009 Arthur Jillette Jr. "Pasta Perfecto" (Goshen, New Hampshire United States) - See all my reviews    This review is from: Atlas Manual Pasta Extruder Regina - Made in Italy (Kitchen) I have bought and tried just about all the Chinese Pasta Mixer-Extruders that are being sold today, including the Ronco disaster and the Pasta imPerfect (and its' 3 or 4 clones that have interchangable parts with the Pasta Perfect.) and have decided that you need to invest at least $200 to get a combination unit that has a ghost of a chance of performing decently. I have had good luck with two different units: The somewhat pricey Kitchen-Aid pasta extruder attachment (which requires the ownership of a Kitchen-Aid mixer, and this cheap little Atlas manual pasta extruder. Both units require you make up the dough in advance. With the Kitchen-Aid you have the dough hook and all the other great equipment. With the Atlas, you can use a fork, flour, eggs, your hands and whatever else, to create your dough. With the dies included, you can make spaghetti, macaroni, noodles, lasanga and cookies. Who cares about the 8 other dies that don't work very well in the other... I do have a regular pasta maker by another manufacturer that is easier to use but it only cuts noodles. Overall not a bad machine. I am happy with it and it does make good pasta, easy to use but can be a workout. You definitely don't have to feel guilty about eating the pasta because you burn off the calories making it. Pros: simple design, comes apart, and easy to clean; does have additional attachment for dough mixing and meat grinding you can purchase separately; works good for tubular pastas. This machine works great. It's not however for tender handed persons, some of the dies make egg dough very hard to crank. I was surprised how clean it remains as you use it, the inner storage area stays spotless. Changing dies it very quick and it does not have razor sharp edges like some Pasta machines, very nice quality on this. For the price you cannot go wrong, order one now! The company does not permit the use of its trademarks without appropriate permission and attribution. And yet the company's trademarks are used in an incorrect and abusive manner by this author through this book. Based on the on-line sample pages, the recipes appear to be very simplistic. No nutritional information is given for the recipes, thus preventing the reader from checking the claimed points values with an official Weight Watchers PointsPlus calculator. There are several legitimate Weight Watchers cookbooks published by third party companies with the full permission and endorsement of Weight Watchers International. Save your money and invest in one or more of those. The New Complete Weight Watchers Cookbook is probably the most comprehensive of the authorized books available, and can be purchased in Kindle format for just a few dollars more than this knock-off. When I asked the chef at our Whole Foods supermarket how she gets the zucchini into angel hair pasta and some other attractive cuts to the vegetables, she/the chef recommended the Cook's Help. I was surprised to see the price however I have not regretted the purchase. In the two months I have had this item,it works every time for me and I am not exaggerating. It comes with a little brochure of an instruction booklet, but it is a very smple machine and not hard to figure out. I feel like a little kid with a great toy. When you are finished cutting your vegetables be sure to clean all the little crevices of any food particles to keep the blades clean and sharp. So far I have been using it to cut my vegetables into angel thin hair pasta or into thin sliced spiral ribbons. I never have a problem.
